Here you can make your choice between heavy and demanding routes or easy and short hikes through pristine areas on the wide highlands of Ecuador.

Antisana (5705m) Trek , 4 days/3 nights

Day1:
From Quito transport by car to El Tambo on the highlands of Papallacta. From here equipment and luggage is carried by mules and the trek (4 hours) head south-west to the lower plains around the volcano lake. Camp 1 at 3800m

Day 2:
Early start for the longest trek (5-6 hours) of the trip. Some hill climbing is to start later on crossing a luxuriant polilepis forest, then with beautiful views throughout the day. Arrival to the next camp on the north-western side of the Antisana volcano at Santa Lucía highlands from where we can enjoy magnificent views of Antisana volcano. There is also possibility of seeing Condors at some time during the day. Camp 2 at 4200m. Next we will camp at Aguas Calientes (hot waters), a place where you can take a bath in natural hot water springs situated in the middle of the huge highlands.

Day 3:
(6 hours trek) Trek towards the base of the southern peak of Antisana, traversing the moraines at the foothills of the beautiful volcano. Camp is set at 4500m, just below the southern peak. The landscape here is spectacular!.

Day 4:
Trekking towards the Mica lagoon where we will meet our car and then be transported back to Quito. On your way down to the high Antisana plateau watch for Condors.

Trekking Carihuairazo & Chimborazo, 7 days / 6 nights
This is an exclusive and spectacular Andes Adventures trip that will take us along impressive mountain ranges of the Carihuairazo (5020m) and Chimborazo (6310m) volcanoes. Our trek will end at the world famous Chimborazo Whymper hut at 5000m.

Day 1:
The day starts with an early car ride to Tisaleo village located on the upperhills of the northeast side of Mount Carihuairazo from where we continue our trip to the highlands of Chusalongo. From here we start our 4 hours trekking till our first camp on the shores of the Pachanlica river.Great views of Ambato valley and impressive volcanic walls of Carihuairazo volcano. Camp at 3900m.

Day 2:
Pachanlica - Quebrada Sachahuaicu. Our second day will take us to our first pass to an altitude of 4500m. from where we descend ob the base of Quebrada Carbonería from where we continue towards the east side of the mountain untill we reach our second camp at 4000 meters on Quebrada Sachahuaicu. The hike will take us along beautiful paramos and if weather permits we will have a splendid view of the active Tungurahua volcano.

Day 3:
Quebrada Sachahuaicu - Quebrada Tigre Saltana. Surrounding the east side of the volcano, our trekking will take us to the southern side of the Carihuairazo. in front of us we will have already the impressive view of Mount Chimborazo and its glaciers. Camp (4100m) is located in a beautiful spot just between Chimborazo and Carihuairazo volcanoes.

Day 4:
Quebrada Tigre Saltana - Isupapungo. This day we walk west, traversing along the plato located between Carihuairazo and Chimborazo volcanoes. Enjoy great views of the impressive glaciers of the north side of Chimborazo contrasting with the beautiful moorland grass of the lower lands of the Carihuairazo volcano. On the high paramos of Isupapungo we will have the chance to observe herds of the gracious vicuñas wich exist on the highlands of the Chimborazo Natural Reserve. Camp at 4100m.

Day 5:
Isupapungo - Pogyos Camp. After a hearthy breakfast we will start our trekking along the high paramos of the north-west side of the impressive Chimborazo volcano. The huge glaciers and the arid area of this side of the mountain is realy very impressive. Our today´s final goal is to reach the place where the remains of the olf famous Fabian Zurita refuge is located. Years ago from this place started the first attempts to get to the summit of the Colosous of the Andes: Mount Chimborazo. Finally we will descend towards our camp at 4000m. near to place known as Pogyos.

Day 6:
Pogyos - Whymper refugeCamp. After a hearthy breakfast we will start our trekking along the high paramos of the north-west side of the impressive Chimborazo volcano. The huge glaciers and the arid area of this side of the mountain is realy very impressive. Our today´s final goal is to reach the place where the remains of the olf famous Fabian Zurita refuge is located. Years ago from this place started the first attempts to get to the summit of the Colosous of the Andes: Mount Chimborazo. Finally we will descend towards our camp at 4000m. near to place known as Pogyos.

The Angamarca trek, 10 days / 9 nights
Discover Ecuador's immense natural and cultural diversity in this amazing 10-day trek! Within the 3000 vertical meters that will be descended we will cross many vegetation zones and have close encounters with the local indigenous inhabitants trekking through three totally distinct areas. The first days we will trek through high and abandoned paramo grass lands, sometimes passing small settlements where the local inhabitants still maintain their ancient and authentic lifestyle and traditions. Afterwards we will hike through Andean valleys with richly cultivated fields and colorfully dressed indigenous people. Explore the Quilotoa Crater Lake, one of Ecuador's most beautiful lakes before finally reaching lower regions. Hike through cloud forest, following the Toachi river in a deep and wide canyon. At lower altitudes the vegetation gets more and more tropical and local inhabitants make a living of cultivating sugarcane, bananas and other tropical fruits.

Day 1:
Drive south from Quito to the town of Latacunga and then to the Zumbahua highlands. Afterwards continue our way (3 hours) towards Angamarca village. Trek to first camp near Angamarca (3300 m).

Day 2:
Today´s trek of 6-7 hours goes along a beautiful trail through the Andean cloud forests up to the small village of Llallichanchi. From here descend into the valley to set the campsite near to the Pigua River (3900 m).

Day 3:
Trek through two small mountain villages, Guaguaycuchu and Lobayacu. At the end of the valley the trail crosses a rocky canyon before reaching the main road to Zumbahua. Overnight in a local simple hotel (3600m).

Day 4: Trek towards Quilotoa Crater (about 3-4 hours), where a small settlement situated. Overnight in a local indigenous family house. In the afternoon visit the lake located inside of the crater walking down along a nice trail from the crater rim.

Day 5:
The trek starts following the crater rim, before descending northwards along farmlands to the little town of Huayama. After having passed Huayama the trail descends into a deep and dry canyon and from here a one-hour trek ends in a little town known as Chugchilan (3200 m). Overnight in the Black Sheep hostal.

Day 6:
Resting day. Relax in the surrounding gardens. For more activity try horseback riding or mountain biking (optional).

Day 7:
Descend into another even deeper canyon. On the bottom of this canyon the hike goes along the Toachi river towards the town of Sigchos. The trail leaves the canyon to cross this quiet town and to reach a nearby of Sivicusi.

Day 8:
Trek down into a tropical part of the Toachi canyon. After a descent of some 800m. the trail reaches the bottom of the canyon and the Toachi River. Further the path runs left of the river, in a green and diverse area, full of orchids and other epiphytic plants. Trek for 4-5 hours to the little village of Asache.

Day 9:
The trek follows the river downstream, leading into a tropical environment full of palm trees and exotic plants, occasionally passing through local plantations of sugarcane and bananas. Camp at an altitude of approximately 1700m.

Day 10:
Still continuing along the Toachi River through the tropical environment, followed by a steep 400-meters climb to finally reach the town of San Francisco de las Pampas (1500 m)where we will join our transport back to Quito.

Included:
private transport, trekking guide, cook, horses for cargo, horse keepers, all meals, overnights in tents and local family houses, all camping equipment (2 persons per tent), rubber boots (up to size 44) and entrance fees.
