GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

Galapagos Island Info - Galapagos Cruises  - Recommendations

Recommendations

  • Smoking: while on the yacht smoking is allowed only on the sundeck (in The Darwin Explorer also in the bar area), but during the visits to the islands, smoking is not permitted at all.

  • Sand: sand carried by shoes or bare feet to the boat can cause serious problems ranging from transporting insect eggs and seed from one island to the other, to obstruction of the pipeline system. We advise you to clean your feet and shoes carefully before boarding the yacht

  • Snorkelling: we provide snorkelling equipment for rental at a very low price (just to cover maintenance expenses), therefore, we ask you to be very careful with this equipment. As snorkelling requires some mental and physical preparation, please pay attention to your guide's instructions. Currents in the Galapagos can be quite treacherous.

  • Use of Toilets: please be aware that toilets can get plugged very easily and cause problems to the whole system. Please do not throw any objects into the toilets, not even toilet paper. A garbage basket is available.
  • What to bring and wear: on all of our yachts, dress is very casual. We suggest you bring the following clothes for your comfort: 3-4 long sleeved cotton shirts, T shirts, 1 lightweight pair of slacks (fast drying material is best), 2-3 pairs of shorts, 1 wind breaker, 1 sweater, 1 hat with a brim, bathing suit, sunglasses with a strap, sun block, insect repellent, wet suit for serious snorkelers, personal medication, reading material, a good photo camera or video camera, binoculars, film (really a lot!) and sandals. A good pair of trekking or tennis shoes are recommended for hiking on the islands.

  • Season: from December to May we have a warm and sunny weather with almost no wind. From June to November in the mornings it can get cold and windy with choppy seas and lower visibility. Temperatures range from 16 to 24 Celsius degrees.

  • Information: please feel free to contact our office at any moment. We can provide you with additional and more detailed information about our different yachts, itineraries, prices, etc. You are more than welcome!
