DAY 7, Saturday

Gardner Bay / Punta Suarez, Española (Hood)

Welcome to my favorite Island!

This morning, step onto Gardner Bay, Española (Hood). We walked along a beautiful white sand beach fully loaded of sea lions. For sure you got used already to find this particular companion everywhere you go in Galapagos, he will never stop to surprise you either if they appear suddenly from the weather or if they appear like they took a sand bath, the baby sea lions will steal your heart. They do not really bother that you are there taking thousand of pictures.

We prepared a small gallery with nice shots of our little, and not so little! new friends.

The beach at Gardner Bay is the last white sand beach we will be on this trip, so make sure to enjoy every ray of sun and the clear waters.

At the shores you can find lava iguanas, lava lizards & mocking birds

You may also find Galapagos Hawk, Darwin’s Finches or Hood Mockingbird.

Looking up further in the horizon, you will find the perfect shape of Turtle Rock.

After the walk in Gardner Bay, we head to Turtle Rock to do our last snorkeling, enjoy it! There are caves covered with invertebrates and starfish. The submarine world beneath this rock is just indescribable…

In the afternoon we disembark at Punta Suarez. There is a large colony of masked boobies (Nazca bobbies).

The trail to follow is rocky.

The walk takes about 30 minutes, the landscapes are marvelous, on the way some iguanas, birds and baby birds, plus great waves.

If you are a photographer, you will love this place.

As we approach to the cliff, we immediately start to feel a cooling mist, it is because there is a geyser and breeze from the sea blowing up to our side. Taking a closer look we found this geyser and everyone wanted to take the best shot of the water splashing out.

For sure one of the highlights today was the snorkeling. Most of the yachts rent the equipment but we strongly recommend bringing your own due that is considered a personal item. Do not forget your aquatic camera.
